Tricia D. Goostree
Founder and Attorney
Tricia D. Goostree knew she wanted to be an attorney when she was 10 years old. Maybe it was Perry Mason reruns, or L.A. Law episodes, but being an attorney seemed glamorous and exciting. It was not until college, when Tricia was selected for Eastern Illinois University's mock trial team, that she realized how much she would enjoy litigation and courtroom work. It really was exciting! Then, after being accepted to the John Marshall Law School with a Dean's Scholarship, she added excellent writing skills to her love of working in the courtroom, winning the Dean Fred F. Herzog Moot Court Competition. Tricia was awarded a Moot Court Executive Board scholarship and went on to compete in regional and interstate competitions during her law school career.
While in law school, Tricia worked as an intern for the Illinois Attorney General's Office in the consumer fraud division and as a Supreme Court Rule 711 clerk for the Chicago Legal Clinic. While at the Chicago Legal Clinic, Tricia began assisting clients with family law cases, including divorces and Orders of Protection, as well as child support enforcement. This allowed her an opportunity to appreciate the needs of her clients and to appear in the Cook County Domestic Relations division regularly. After two years of practice primarily in Cook County, Tricia began practicing in Kane, DuPage, Kendall, and DeKalb counties, and she has built an excellent reputation with judges and opposing attorneys.
Since 2002, Tricia's practice has been solely concentrated in family law and domestic relations, including but not limited to complex financial cases, issues of maintenance, contested custody litigation, and appeals. For nearly 15 years, Tricia's goal has been to represent her clients zealously with integrity and compassion, whether during tough settlement negotiations or litigation. Tricia loves being in the courtroom and excels when presented with difficult legal problems or challenging opponents. As a small town girl who moved to Chicago to pursue her drive of being a lawyer, Tricia has the ability to relate to folks from all walks of life, regardless of what their legal or family issues may be.
Aside from Tricia's work for her clients both in and out of court, she has served her community in many ways, including serving on the board of directors of Prairie State Legal Services for four years, volunteering at the Northern Illinois Food Bank, providing pro bono legal services to those in need, and serving the Kane County Bar Association & Foundation as the high school mock trial coordinator for three years. Tricia also served as the chairperson of the Kane County Bar Association's Admissions and Membership committee and as a member of the Public Relations Committee. Tricia has lectured at various continuing legal education seminars, and received the only "Rising Star" award ever presented by the Kane County Family Law Committee in 2005. Tricia has been named as an Illinois "Super Lawyer" for the past five years. In 2015 and 2016, she was recognized as an Illinois "Leading Lawyer."
Tricia is the founder and managing partner of the Goostree Law Group, P.C. in St. Charles, Illinois. She is an avid baseball fan, a runner, and loves to travel with her husband.
